a New engine

Well the overheating has removed the tension on the piston rings and they are not sealing properly.

I have bought another block and I intend to do it up and put it in Mable

its an interesting block a B prefix but with J block Oil cap and Dip stick


I have already pulled the cam out of Mable and put it in this block

took me 7 hours to do.

Oh my goodness the chips!

Oh crap I’ve cooked the engine!

All the accumulated sludge has gone from the engine into the radiator and filled it up she’s over heated and blown the head gasket

Lets hope its repairable as the funds are running low again.

She was running so good but something must be wrong as I have changed the radiator and the temperature light still comes on but that radiator (the new one) was a bit suss to start with

The white smoke was a sign.

its a matter of timing

Well I have had the steel timing gear put in seemed a shame to cut up the rage rear as it was in VG condition but the new gear was put on the cheats way with the cam shaft still in the vehicle.

We also changed the harmonic balancer while we were at it (the weight on it was loose and busy sawing it’s way through the rivets)

I have replaced the fibre timing gear and the Harmonic balancer and the timing case seal and have rebuild the distributor, I bought a new set of leads and replaced the plugs twice started with Champions J12ys now I am running NGK BP5s the Champions have been good in the past but now that they are not made in Australia any more it think QC has suffered

Went up the central coast and ran real well on 55mph I have also been to Wollongong and she never missed a beat but I am worried about the white smoke and we are using water but their appears to be no water in the oil so I don’t think the head gasket is blown

I applied for another job as a printer’s offsider, well I did not get it as I don’t have the correct qualifications

I am a qualified printer, I feel that should give me an edge over a labouring offsider

So I went to Centre link who are unable to help me in my search for a job as I have too much money and am not eligible for the dole I was advised to spend all my money and come back and then they could help me.

I wanted to do some courses but I would have to pay for them myself fair enough but when I asked if the could tell me “what courses I should do” they told me that I should “select them” “Ok but can you recommend who the best ones are” “No I am sorry we can’t help you”. So I have to take a punt and may end up spending my money on courses that are not suitable
