Letter to the Herald
For those of you who are not from Sydney Australia a bit of background here the Herald or to give it it's full title "The Sydney Morning Herald" is one of two papers in Sydney they are what's left as the old "Sun" and "Mirror" have closed down. Consequently it has become hard to get letters printed in the remaining papers but I try, this article in the Herald http://www.smh.com.au/news/National/Bored-members-hate-meetings/2005/06/05/1117910189996.html
prompted this letter which was not printed.
Sorry Rhonda,
People don't take positions on boards because they are too dreary, they don't take positions because they might have to do some WORK, that four letterword puts them off.
I am the unpaid secretary of a small group and at present we are in theprocess of collecting our annual subscriptions and preparing reports for our District and State Organizations as well as submitting documentation to various Government departments as is required by law.
Half filled out forms, incorrect money, stupid questions & Tomato sauce stains...........
Refusal to involve yourself in politics means that you end up being ruled by your inferiors
You would really be pulling your hair out.
That about sums my feelings up.
